The Moldovan Church announced a media attack on the primate
The Synodal Department called the publication of negative materials in the media the first stage in discrediting the Church.
On June 9, 2026, the Orthodox Church of Moldova issued an official statement regarding attempts to tarnish the image of Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and All Moldova. The Moldovan Metropolia stated that the religious organization had become the target of a well-planned and coordinated attack.
Church representatives called what was happening in the media space the first step in implementing a broad scenario of defaming the clergy. The Synodal Department for Public Relations expressed serious concern about the press campaign, which has clearly established goals.
The Metropolia called on journalists and society to observe norms of decency and adhere to Christian behavior. In Chisinau, they emphasized the inadmissibility of crossing "red lines" in public discussions about religion. The Church of Moldova reminded of its role as a spiritual guide and source of hope for believers in these difficult times.
Any attempts to undermine its authority harm the entire society and prevent people from overcoming moral and spiritual difficulties. The Metropolia demanded that the authors of the attacks show honesty, responsibility, and mutual respect for the sake of preserving stability in the country.
As the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported, in Moldova, by court decision, believers of the Moldovan Metropolia were not allowed into the church.
