200 thousand people gathered at Moscow's cathedral mosque.

On May 27, 2026, a large-scale celebration of Kurban Bayram began in Moscow, with hundreds of thousands of people participating.

Due to lack of space, thousands of people prayed on closed streets, avenues, squares and in parks, spreading out the prayer rugs they had brought with them. In total, 11 streets and lanes of the capital were closed for the holiday, with parking bans introduced on all sections.

During the khutbah at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque, the chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Council of Muftis of Russia, Ravil Gainutdin, read congratulations on Kurban Bayram from the country's top officials: President V. Putin, Prime Minister M. Mishustin, Federation Council Chairwoman V. Matvienko, State Duma Chairman V. Volodin, and Moscow Mayor S. Sobyanin.

The namaz at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque was also performed by Turkish Ambassador Tanju Bilgic together with ambassadors from Islamic and Arab countries.

Festive prayers and events took place throughout Russia – in Kazan, Ufa, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Vladivostok, and Grozny.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that in 2025, Kurban Bayram in Moscow was celebrated by about a quarter of a million people.
