The incident occurred at a public transport stop, where the 71-year-old woman was waiting for her bus.

The attacker ran up to the nun and began shouting insults at her related to her religious affiliation. He then tore the pectoral cross from the victim’s neck and threw it onto the roadway. After the attack, the man tried to flee on a city bus, but the nun herself prevented him from entering the vehicle, forcing him to run away on foot.

Police found the suspect in one of the city’s nearby districts thanks to an accurate description provided by witnesses to the crime. The detainee has already been charged with insulting a person on religious grounds and violating bodily integrity.
