UOC monk detained by police in Zhytomyr region, handed over to draft office
Police reportedly used force during the detention of a hieromonk of the Zhytomyr Eparchy of the UOC.
In the Zhytomyr region, police officers detained Hieromonk Ilya, rector of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos Church of the UOC in the village of Novi Vorobi, and handed him over to staff of the Territorial Center of Recruitment (TRC), according to the Pershyi Kozatskyi Telegram channel, citing its sources.
According to available information, force was used during the detention. In particular, pepper spray was reportedly used against the clergyman, after which he was unable to recover for a long time and requested medical assistance.
It is reported that at the recruitment center, the hieromonk was denied a doctor despite his condition.
According to the channel, the clergyman has now been sent to the 95th Air Assault Brigade, where he is being held on the premises of a military unit.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the TRC in Kyiv detained an archimandrite of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
