Supreme Court opens appeal in case of UOC’s Korets Monastery
The court has begun considering the UOC monastery’s appeal against the ruling on its liquidation, filed in a lawsuit by the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience.
On April 29, 2026, the Supreme Court of Ukraine opened appellate proceedings in the case concerning the termination of the activities of the Korets Holy Trinity Stavropegial Convent of the UOC, the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience reported.
The decision to open the proceedings was made on April 27 by a panel of judges of the Cassation Administrative Court within the Supreme Court. The appeal was filed by the monastery against the March 16, 2026 ruling of the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal.
The case is being heard as part of a lawsuit filed by the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience, which seeks to terminate the religious organization’s activities. Proceedings have been opened in case No. 855/2/26.
A copy of the Supreme Court’s ruling has now been sent to the parties for review.
Earlier, it was reported that the Cassation Administrative Court within the Supreme Court scheduled the appeal hearing in the case concerning the termination of the religious organization “Kyiv Metropolia of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church” for May 19, 2026.
