Patriarch John X of Antioch arrived at the Phanar, where he met with Patriarch Bartholomew and discussed issues concerning inter-Orthodox relations.

On April 28, 2026, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople received Patriarch John X of Antioch, who arrived in Istanbul for a visit, the press service of the Ecumenical Patriarchate reported.

The visit by the primate of the Church of Antioch followed his trip to southeastern regions of Türkiye that fall under the jurisdiction of the Antiochian Patriarchate. He came to Istanbul to personally congratulate Patriarch Bartholomew on the feast of Pascha and to respond to an invitation extended earlier.

At the entrance to the residence of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the guest was welcomed by clergy of the patriarchal court as bells rang solemnly.

After praying in the patriarchal church, Patriarch John X proceeded to the patriarchal residence, where Patriarch Bartholomew was waiting for him.

A meeting of the two primates then took place in the presence of hierarchs from both Churches and members of their delegations.

Following the meeting, Patriarch Bartholomew hosted a dinner in honor of his guest and his delegation. Patriarch John X is expected to remain in Constantinople until midday Thursday.

As previously reported by the UOJ, Patriarch Bartholomew visited a synagogue in Istanbul and congratulated Jews on Passover.
