Metropolitan Meletiy led the festal service in Krasnoilsk with the participation of clergy from the Romanian Orthodox Church.

On April 17, 2026, Friday of Bright Week, Metropolitan Meletiy of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna celebrated the festal Divine Liturgy at the Church of St. John the Forerunner in the settlement of Krasnoilsk. Around one thousand faithful gathered to venerate the wonderworking icon preserved in this parish of the Storozhynets deanery, according to the Chernivtsi Eparchy.

On this feast day, representatives of the clergy of the Romanian Orthodox Church also came to Krasnoilsk to share in the joy of the celebration together with the rector of the parish, Archpriest Vasyl Pavlenko. During the service, the hierarch and clergy offered prayers for peace in Ukraine and for the protection of all those who have lost their homes or are living in despair.

After the Liturgy, the faithful and clergy solemnly processed around the church with the wonderworking icon. As the Paschal troparia were sung, Metropolitan Meletiy read the Gospel and sprinkled the flock with holy water, after which he addressed those gathered with a homily. The rector of the church thanked the hierarch and the pilgrims for their shared prayer.

The Krasnoilsk Icon became renowned in 1995, when tears appeared on the face of the Mother of God in the home of the local Mitryk family. Later, the icon began to stream abundantly with myrrh, and the myrrh soaked through the board so deeply that on the reverse side there appeared the outline of the Savior’s face.

After numerous testimonies of miracles and healings, including that of the Romanian boy Lucian Prokop, the icon was recognized as wonderworking, and its feast day was established on the Friday of Bright Week. In 1996, the shrine was formally glorified by Metropolitan Onuphry.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Kasperov Icon of the Mother of God was honored in Odesa.
