Sumy Eparchy raises one million hryvnias for children with cancer for Easter
The UOC has held the campaign "For the Bright Day – bright deeds!" in support of children with cancer in the Sumy region.
The Sumy Eparchy of the UOC has summarized the results of the fifteenth annual campaign "For a bright day – bright deeds!" aimed at helping children with cancer in the region. This was reported by the eparchial press service.
By the blessing of Metropolitan Eulogiy of Sumy and Akhtyrka, the collection of donations took place in all parishes of the eparchy during Great Lent 2026. Donation boxes were installed in churches, and charity fairs and creative events were held with the participation of Sunday school students.
On the third day after Pascha, the results were summarized: the amount of collected funds exceeded 1 million 140 thousand hryvnias, while donations from individual parishes continue to arrive.
The collected funds will be directed to support the treatment of children undergoing therapy for oncological diseases. As noted in the eparchy, the mercy of the faithful became a testimony of spiritual unity and readiness to help neighbors even in difficult times.
As the UOJ reported, in December of last year the Sumy Eparchy donated more than a million hryvnias to the children's clinical hospital for the purchase of medical equipment and medications necessary for treating children with cancer.
