KDAiS publishes book on history of Ukrainian Orthodox Church
The Kyiv Theological Academy has released an updated survey of the more than 1,000-year path of the Ukrainian Church.
On March 31, 2026, the second expanded edition of the book Ukrainian Orthodox Church: Milestones of History was published by the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, according to the official KDAiS website.
The publication was issued with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and prepared for publication by the UOC Publishing Department. The editorial board included Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, rector of KDAiS; Bishop Panteleimon of Baturyn, vice rector for academic affairs; Professor Volodymyr Bureha; and Archimandrite Mitrofan (Bozhko), the academy’s academic secretary. The work was recommended for publication by the Academic Council of the Academy.
The book offers a concise survey of the history of Orthodoxy on the territory of Ukraine – from the origins of Christianity in Rus to the present day. The authors present church events against the backdrop of social, political, and cultural life both within the country and on the international stage in the respective periods.
“This makes it possible to better understand the winding path traveled by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church over the course of its more than 1,000-year history,” the book’s description says.
Special attention was given to the visual design: the book contains numerous illustrations. Maps of the Kyivan Metropolia in different periods of its existence were prepared specifically for this edition. The volume is intended for a wide readership.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a liturgics textbook had been published at KDAiS.
