In Sumy, UOC Chapel of St Prince Yaroslav the Wise damaged by shelling
As a result of the strike on Sumy, a UOC chapel of Saint Prince Yaroslav the Wise was damaged.
On February 17, 2026, as a result of shelling of the city of Sumy, the Chapel of Saint Prince Yaroslav the Wise (UOC) was damaged, as reported on the official website of the Sumy Eparchy of the UOC.
According to the press service, the rector of the chapel, Archpriest Dimitry Teslenko, also confirmed the incident on his Facebook page. The blast wave knocked out the entrance doors and one stained glass window.
The published photographs show scattered fragments of stained glass, broken windows and damaged doors. The chapel building sustained visible damage both inside and at the entrance.
The Sumy Eparchy of the UOC received the news of the damage to the shrine with sorrow and offers prayers for the speedy restoration of the chapel and for peace in their native land.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Konotop, a church and the eparchial administration of the UOC were damaged by shelling.
