Archbishop Michael of Prague hospitalized due to diabetes complications

The Prague Orthodox Eparchy has reported the hospitalization of Archbishop Michael, who continues to administer the eparchy in the usual manner.

On February 15, 2026, it became known that Archbishop Michael of Prague and the Czech Lands was hospitalized due to complications caused by diabetes mellitus, UOJ in the Czech Republic reports.

Information about the hierarch’s health was published on the eparchy’s official website. The statement details that the Archbishop is undergoing treatment for complications related to his chronic illness. The date and place of hospitalization are not disclosed.

Despite being in the hospital, Archbishop Michael continues to carry out his duties. According to the eparchy, working matters are relayed to him through staff of the episcopal chancery, and governance is being conducted in the usual mode.

The eparchy urged the faithful to support Archbishop Michael with prayer, asking for his swift recovery and renewed strength.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that in the Czech Republic, during a closed presentation, the Church was described as a security threat.
