After the takeover of the UOC’s Krupytskyi Monastery, officials are preventing the sisters from recovering a reliquary and an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

On February 10, 2026, employees of a state museum refused to return the personal property of the sisters of the UOC’s St. Nicholas Krupytskyi Monastery, despite the presence of the relevant documents, Pershyi Kozatskyi reports.

It is noted that in the monastery, expropriated by the authorities and a state preserve, a significant number of personal liturgical items belonging to the nuns still remain.

According to sources, the retained valuables include a 17th-century icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The National Art Museum of Ukraine has estimated its approximate value at around $100,000. Also in the premises now occupied by security forces are an icon of the Mother of God presented to Abbess Dorofeia, as well as a reliquary.

It is reported that the abbess has documentary proof of ownership for all of these items. However, when she attempted to retrieve the personal property, she was again denied entry to the monastery grounds. The authorities and the museum administration, the report says, have no intention of returning the seized valuables voluntarily.
