Yelensky and PO deputy heads report to USA on how Ukraine fights anti-Semitism
Ukrainian authorities have become concerned with cooperation with the USA on the crucial issue of anti-Semitism.
On February 4, 2026, Deputy Heads of the President's Office Olena Kovalska and Iryna Mudra, and Head of State Ethnopolitics Viktor Yelensky discussed cooperation in combating anti-Semitism, ensuring freedom of religion, and protecting the rights of national minorities, with US Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Riley Barnes, reports Mudra.
"We specifically focused on the importance of systematic state policy in the field of combating anti-Semitism. For Ukraine, this cannot be a reaction to individual incidents. It is about a long-term approach that brings together legislative solutions, institutional capacity, engagement with communities, education, and law enforcement practice,” Mudra wrote.
According to her, "the post-war period will require special attention to these issues: it is precisely in conditions of social tension, trauma and large-scale transformations that the risk of hate speech and discrimination increases."
"Therefore, preventing anti-Semitism and protecting minority rights must be built into the architecture of post-war state policy," Mudra wrote.
The government representatives did not specify what they see as persecution of the rights of Jews and adherents of Judaism.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Yelensky, rabbis and Zoria spoke about freedom of faith in Ukraine in the USA.
