Photo materials from the combat zone show the condition of a church in Kostiantynivka, where the humanitarian and military situation remains extremely difficult.

On January 9, 2026, photographs of destruction in the city of Kostiantynivka, Donetsk Region, were published online – including images of a damaged church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The footage was posted on the Facebook page of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo.

The published photographs record extensive damage inside the church: parts of the roof and ceiling structures have partially collapsed; in the central section of the building, piles of brick, timber elements, and fragments of interior furnishings have formed. The iconostasis has been damaged; behind it, debris from building materials is visible. Individual icons and items of church vessels and furnishings have been displaced or lie amid the rubble. Breaches can be seen in the walls and vaulting, through which daylight penetrates into the interior.

As servicemen note, Kostiantynivka is living under conditions of a steadily approaching front line and what is, in effect, a drone siege. The city is struck around the clock by aerial bombs and artillery; FPV-drone attacks on civilian transport and evacuation routes are also being recorded.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Kherson, Metropolitan Ioann served the funeral for a UOC priest who was killed by a drone strike.
