The head of state sent an address to the hierarchs and believers, noting the spiritual significance of the holiday and emphasizing the tradition of respect for Orthodox Christians in Poland.

On January 6, 2026, the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, together with his wife Marta Nawrocka, addressed the hierarchs and Orthodox believers of his country with a congratulatory message on the occasion of the Nativity of Christ.

In the address, the presidential couple conveyed heartfelt wishes of peace, joy, and spiritual comfort to Orthodox Christians. "At this special time, we extend our heartfelt thoughts and best wishes to all members of the Orthodox Church and Eastern Orthodox Churches in Poland. May your hearts be filled with joy, peace, and love during this Christmas Eve meal, which begins with the beautiful custom of sharing prosphora," the message reads.

Karol and Marta Nawrocki emphasized the spiritual significance of the Nativity of Christ for the entire Christian world. "We wish that the miracle of the Savior's birth, which forever changed the fate of the world, illuminate your lives and bestow goodness upon your homes, families, parishes, and religious congregations," they noted.

In conclusion, the congratulation included the Gospel words: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men of good will," as well as wishes for a blessed, peaceful, and joyful Nativity of Christ and the upcoming New Year.

It is worth noting that, despite Orthodox Christians making up about 1% of Poland's population, the head of state's Christmas greetings to Orthodox believers have become a traditional practice in the country. During his presidential term, former President of Poland Andrzej Duda annually sent Christmas greetings to the country's Orthodox believers.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Zelensky instructed the Rada to review the calendar due to "unfortunate coincidences" of tragedy days with professional holidays.
