UOC Social Dept. delivers Christmas gifts to IDPs and disabled children

In Kyiv, more than 300 families of displaced persons, large families, and children with disabilities received gifts from the UOC Social Department at Christmas celebrations.

On January 7, 2026, in Kyiv, with the blessing of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, a Christmas charity event was held for families of displaced persons, large and low-income families, as well as children with disabilities, reports the UOC Synodal Department of for Social and Humanitarian Affairs.

As part of the event, about 300 sweet gifts were given to children at the Church of All Saints on the territory of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ. In total, during these days, the Social Department of the UOC prepared and distributed about a thousand Christmas gifts for needy families.

Before the start of the festive event, the head of the Social Department of the UOC, Archpriest Serhiy Ekshiyan, addressed the children and their parents. He congratulated those present on the Nativity of Christ and reminded them of the spiritual significance of the feast, emphasizing that this day is especially dedicated to children and family unity.

Families from Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Luhansk, and Sumy regions participated in the event. Many of them said that this Christmas is spent far from their native places, but the attention and support of the Church help maintain the festive joy and sense of community.

The Christmas meeting concluded with the joint performance of the carol "Good Evening to You". The Social Department of the UOC thanked the Kyiv Theological Academy, benefactors, and volunteers who participated in the preparation and distribution of Christmas gifts.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Kyiv, the UOC Social Department handed over humanitarian aid to IDPs.
