Bulgarian Patriarch prays for reconciliation between Ukraine and Russia
On the anniversary of Sofia’s liberation from Ottoman rule, Patriarch Daniel prayed for an end to the war in Ukraine.
On January 3, 2026, at St. Nedelya Cathedral, Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel prayed for reconciliation between Ukraine and Russia, the BTA news agency reports.
The Primate of the Bulgarian Church presided over the Divine Liturgy, after which he offered a thanksgiving prayer in honor of the 148th anniversary of Sofia’s liberation from the Ottoman Empire.
The head of the Bulgarian Church also prayed for the war in Ukraine to cease and for reconciliation between “two brotherly peoples.”
Earlier, the UOJ reported on a statement by the Vatican’s nuncio regarding an end to hostilities in Ukraine.
