UOC faithful in Uzhhorod protest outside TRC over priest mobilization
TRC officers detained the rector of the UOC Church of the Myrrh-Bearing Women in the village of Rakovo.
Parishioners of the UOC Church of the Myrrh-Bearing Women in the village of Rakovo, in Zakarpattia, held a peaceful protest outside the TRC (Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support) in Uzhhorod on December 26, 2025, in connection with what they describe as the unlawful detention of their rector, Archpriest Vasyl Drahun. Maria Dragun reported this on her Facebook page.
Orthodox Christians came out in defense of their priest, demanding that the law be observed, that freedom of conscience be respected, and that the TRC provide official explanations.
UOC faithful say that Fr. Vasyl was forcibly mobilized in Uzhhorod while he was undergoing inpatient treatment at the regional hospital.
The parishioners are asking for the widest possible public attention.
As the UOJ previously reported, the TRC earlier detained the rector of UOC churches in the villages of Sylne and Hupaly.
