Pope and Slovak President discuss consequences of war in Ukraine for Europe
During the meeting, the Pontiff and the Slovak President discussed the international situation, with particular attention to the war in Ukraine.
Pope Leo XIV received the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini, in the Vatican on December 4, 2025. According to vaticannews, during the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations, the war in Ukraine, and the situation in the Middle East.
According to the Vatican press service, both parties expressed mutual appreciation for the good bilateral relations, confirmed their commitment to strengthening social cohesion, promoting justice, and protecting the family.
Furthermore, the Pontiff and the Slovak President considered the "international context, with particular attention to the war in Ukraine, its consequences for European security, as well as the situation in the Middle East".
As reported by the UOJ, earlier the Pope stated that Europeans' concerns about Muslim migrants are unfounded.
