Institute for Religious Freedom: More than 240 churches damaged during war
According to the Ukrainian Institute of Religious Freedom, more than 240 religious buildings have been damaged and destroyed in Ukraine during the war.
The Institute for Religious Freedom in Ukraine has reported that at least 240 religious buildings were damaged by shelling during the full-scale war on the territory of the country. The information is posted on the IRF website.
Most of the churches and religious buildings affected by the war belong to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
According to the IRF, the largest number of destroyed churches, mosques and synagogues is in the Donetsk Region – 63. The second place is occupied by the Kyiv region with 47 damaged religious buildings. It is followed by Kharkiv and Luhansk regions with 37 and 34 destroyed religious buildings respectively.
As reported, shelling partially destroyed the Assumption Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the town of Gorskoye, Luhansk region.
