Court to review Metropolitan Arseniy’s appeal on December 2
The appeal in the case of Metropolitan Arseniy is expected to assess the controversial decision of the Dnipro court regarding his arrest and examine the arguments of the defense concerning violations of the hierarch’s rights.
On December 1, 2025, it became known that the hearing of the Dnipro Court of Appeal in the case of Metropolitan Arseniy, abbot of the Sviatohirsk Lavra, has been scheduled for December 2. This was reported on the official Telegram channel of the Sviatohirsk Lavra.
The hearing will take place in Kryvyi Rih, where the appellate instance is to consider the defense’s complaints against the ruling of the Sobornyi District Court of Dnipro dated November 3, which placed Metropolitan Arseniy in custody. The defense maintains that the first-instance decision was made with serious violations of procedural law.
The hearing is set to begin at 14:20. According to the lawyers, the court of appeal must assess both the grounds for the chosen preventive measure and the circumstances under which Metropolitan Arseniy was kept under guard and in conditions that adversely affected his health.
The Lavra emphasizes that the attention of the faithful and the public to this case remains extremely important. Clergy remind that Metropolitan Arseniy continues to be held in custody, and that the conditions of his detention and judicial pressure are a cause for concern.
The brethren of the Sviatohirsk Lavra appealed to the faithful to offer intensified prayers for Metropolitan Arseniy and for the swift restoration of justice.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Metropolitan Arseniy fell ill during a court hearing and that an ambulance had to be called for him.
