In Vatican, Pat. Theodoros and the Pope discuss their message to the world
The Pope and Patriarch Theodoros agreed that the voice of the historic Churches carries special weight today.
On November 27, 2025, Pope Leo met with Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria. This was reported by Orthodox Times.
The two discussed issues of inter-Church cooperation and the significance of the upcoming jubilee assembly in Nicaea, to which they are travelling at the invitation of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. The Pope and the Alexandrian primate agreed that their presence in Nicaea will send an important message to a divided world – a message of the desire for peace, hope, love, mutual respect, and unity in faith.
They noted that in today’s climate of ongoing conflict and social upheaval, the voice of the historic Churches takes on particular significance. Patriarch Theodoros pointed out that the “today” of every Christian is preparation for the Kingdom of Heaven, and that this preparation must be lived through active service to peace and reconciliation.
As a reminder, Pope Leo has already arrived in Istanbul, where he met with President Erdoğan.
