In Brussels, pro-abortion activists attack RCC bishop from Nigeria
The hierarch who came to speak about the mass killings of Christians in Nigeria became the target of an aggressive action in the European Parliament.
On November 27, 2025, a group of MEPs along with pro-abortion activists attempted to disrupt the speech of a Nigerian Catholic bishop of the RCC at the European Parliament.
Wilfred Chikpa Anagbe arrived at the European Parliament to speak about the large-scale and systematic massacre of Christians in his country.
Addressing European officials, he urged them not to remain silent about the killings of Christians in his country: «The blood of Nigeria's martyrs cries out for help. Do not remain silent».
However, near the entrance to the European Parliament, a group of pro-abortion activists staged a protest against the RCC hierarch. According to eyewitnesses, the group was led by former Spanish Minister of Gender Equality Irene Montero.
The activists surrounded the bishop, shouting political slogans. They chanted slogans asserting that "abortion is a human right". The pro-abortion supporters attempted to prevent the bishop from entering the building and intended to disrupt his meeting with European politicians.
According to tribunechretienne.com, this scene caused deep bewilderment among observers. The hierarch arrived to speak about the tragedy that many are already calling the "creeping genocide" of Christians in Nigeria – about mass killings, night attacks, kidnappings, burned villages, and destroyed communities. But instead of attention to the humanitarian catastrophe, he was drawn into a political demonstration unrelated to the subject of his testimony.
Bishop Anagbe has been telling the world about the violence against Christians in Nigeria for many years. His visit to the European Parliament was aimed at achieving a real response from Europe to the killings of Christians, about which international structures still speak insufficiently.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Nigeria, Islamists killed more than 20 Christians in 24 hours.
