Notre-Dame de Paris hosts first wedding in 30 years
By special blessing of the archbishop, a carpenter who participated in the restoration of the cathedral after the fire got married in Notre-Dame de Paris.
On October 25, 2025, the first marriage ceremony in three decades took place at the Notre-Dame Cathedral. Martin Lorentz, 29, a craftsman who spent three years reconstructing the cathedral’s medieval wooden framework, exchanged vows with his now-wife, Jade, on Oct. 25 inside the historic Paris monument — the first marriage there since 1995. This was reported by New York Post.
The sacrament was held with the blessing of the Archbishop of Paris, Laurent Ulrich, who made an exception as a token of gratitude to the workers who helped revive the fire-damaged cathedral. Usually, only major church and state ceremonies are held at Notre-Dame de Paris, and weddings here are extremely rare – the previous one took place in 1995.
The ceremony was held in a narrow family circle, without the presence of the public.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a fire in France destroyed a 12th-century Catholic monastery.
