On October 31, 2025, the enthronement of the new Archbishop of Sinai, Pharan, and Raithu, Simeon, took place at the historic Monastery of Saint Catherine on Sinai. This was reported by the Orthodoxia News Agency.

The solemn ceremony was led by Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem. The enthronement was attended by the Prime Minister of Greece, the Minister of Education, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary General for Religious Affairs, as well as representatives of Egyptian authorities.

Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople was represented by Metropolitan Dimitrios of Geron and Prigiponissos, Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria by Metropolitan George of Guinea. The Churches of Greece and Cyprus were represented by Bishop Christophoros of Karpasia. Among the participants of the ceremony were also Metropolitans Nikodimos of Memphis and Isychios of Capitolias.

According to the ancient rite, the Primate of the Church of Jerusalem handed the pastoral staff to Archbishop Simeon, proclaiming "Axios!" This greeting was echoed by the clergy, elders, and numerous faithful present at the celebration.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that a new Archbishop of Sinai was ordained in Jerusalem.
