Health condition of Metropolitan Tychikos remains alarming – lawyer

The hierarch continues to undergo medical examinations in an Athens hospital.
The lawyer of Metropolitan Tychikos, Ms. Pulla, told the Greek television channel ANT1 that her client remains under medical supervision in Athens, where he continues to undergo examinations.
According to her, the bishop’s condition is quite serious.
“Three or four days ago, when I spoke with him, we couldn’t talk for long because he was in pain. He literally could not speak,” Ms. Pulla said.
Based on the results of the examinations, doctors will determine the further course of treatment, including whether the bishop can return to Cyprus.
Commenting on the actions of the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus, the lawyer said she considers all procedures against the bishop unlawful.
“They have already condemned him by a specific decision. Now they intend to judge him a second time. What person is judged and condemned twice?” she asked.
According to the defense, the bishop was “canonically elected and lawfully consecrated and has not been convicted of any serious criminal or ecclesiastical offense.” Ms. Pulla also stated that any new bishop elected to replace Tychikos would be “an illegitimate usurper of the throne.”
At the same time, the lawyer said she does not intend to challenge the Synod’s decisions in court, considering it meaningless to appeal to ecclesiastical authorities whom she believes are biased against her client.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Metropolitan Tychikos remains hospitalized in Athens.
