Belarusian Church calls for prayer before court hearing on UOC Metropolis ban
The Synod called on the faithful of Belarus to prayer and fasting before the trial of the UOC Metropolis.
On October 28, 2025, the Synod of the Belarusian Orthodox Church issued an appeal regarding the ongoing persecutions of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The document expresses deep concern about the situation of the canonical Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
"The Synod of the Belarusian Orthodox Church has repeatedly stated, on behalf of the Orthodox faithful of the Republic of Belarus, its deep concern over the situation of the canonical Orthodox Church in Ukraine. Unfortunately, at present, we note with great pain and anxiety that unlawful actions against the country's only canonical Orthodox Church continue," the appeal states on the eve of the trial against the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC.
The Synod called on the believers of Belarus to prayer and fasting before the court hearing, which is to take place on October 30.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the UOC Chancellor, Metropolitan Antony, called for strict fasting and prayer on October 29 and 30.
