Synod of Constantinople rejects appeal of Metropolitan Tychikos of Paphos

The Synod members of Constantinople recommended Metropolitan Tychikos to accept his suspension "for his own spiritual interest".
On October 17, 2025, at a meeting of the Synod of the Church of Constantinople, its members reviewed the appeal of Metropolitan Tychikos to the Ecumenical Patriarch regarding the decision of the Cypriot Synod to remove him from the Paphos See.
As reported by the website of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the synod members rejected the appeal.
"During the examination of the file on the matter, omissions were discovered during the trial of the case of Metropolitan Tychicos in the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus with regard to the provisions of its Charter, however, not all members of the Holy and Sacred Synod, judging on the substance, unanimously ratified the synodal decision of the Most Holy Church of Cyprus," the statement said.
It was ultimately recommended to the Metropolitan of Paphos to obey the decisions of the Holy Synod of his Church, and this for his own spiritual interest and for the peace and unity of the Church.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Cypriot Metropolitan Tychikos filed an appeal to the Ecumenical Patriarch.
