UOC priest's face splashed with brilliant green during Liturgy in Stryi
Fr Volodymyr Mandziuk, rector of the UOC Church of the Resurrection, was attacked during a service.
On May 22, 2022, at the Church of the Resurrection in Stryi, Lviv Region, rector Fr Volodymyr Mandziuk had brilliant green antiseptic thrown in his face. The attack took place during the Liturgy. The priest’s daughter, Dana Mandziuk, reported the incident on Facebook.
“This is a cry from the heart! What is happening in our country? This is my father, Father Volodymyr, a UOC priest in Stryi. Today, during a church service, so-called nationalists who are seizing our churches splashed brilliant green in his face. Once again I say: our priests pray for our soldiers and for our country, we pray in Church Slavonic, and we help however we can – with money and humanitarian aid. Come to your senses. God is not mocked. Every one of us will answer before God for everything,” Dana wrote.
The photos show the priest’s face completely covered in brilliant green. The liquid also got into his eyes. His condition is currently unknown.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the rector of the UOC church was beaten and kidnapped in the Zhytomyr Eparchy.
