Terror threat letter discovered inside Paris’s Notre-Dame Cathedral
After a letter threatening a terror attack was discovered, Paris police have strengthened security at Notre-Dame Cathedral.
On October 10, 2025, a letter containing a terror threat was found inside Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. The anonymous authors demanded that the cathedral be closed on October 11 and 12, claiming an attack was planned for those dates, La Dépêche reported.
The letter was discovered near the candle stand by a cathedral employee. According to the publication, the authors claimed that “foreigners have hidden knives inside the cathedral and are planning a massacre.” Following the discovery, Notre-Dame’s security staff and police conducted a full inspection but found no dangerous objects or weapons.
To reinforce safety, additional visitor screening was introduced at the entrance, and the premises were thoroughly checked. The Paris authorities and cathedral administration have not yet decided whether to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
Notre-Dame, one of Paris’s most iconic landmarks, reopened to visitors in December 2024 after a large-scale restoration that had been ongoing since 2019. The fire that year destroyed the spire and roof, but firefighters managed to save the cathedral’s main structure and its sacred relics.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a 19th-century church had been set on fire in France.
