Near the synagogue, several young people performed a Nazi salute and then sprayed one of the Jews with tear gas.

On October 11, 2025, in Kyiv, several young people attacked a synagogue in the Obolon district. As stated by the Jewish community, around 3 PM, several young people approached the building and began demonstratively giving Nazi salutes.
One of the Jews came out to them, after which he was sprayed with tear gas from two canisters. The assaulters fled the scene. The man suffered severe burns to his eyes and skin.

"This was a deliberate, brutal, and premeditated anti-Semitic act! Just last night, a group of young people was giving Nazi salutes and shouting anti-Semitic slogans at our synagogue upon seeing the rabbi. This is something that should not happen in a civilized world!", the community wrote.

The Kyiv police wrote that they are "establishing the circumstances of the attack".

As reported, the Kyiv synagogue assured that Sheptytsky allegedly hated Nazism.
