Pope Leo and Lithuania's President discuss war in Ukraine and its consequences

The discussion was about the "need to intensify the search for diplomatic solutions and to avert the risk of an escalation of the conflict".
On October 6, 2025, Pope Leo XIV received the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, in a private audience at the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican, with whom he discussed a number of international issues, particularly the war in Ukraine. This was reported by the Vatican News website.
During the meeting, both parties emphasized the "highlighting the need to intensify the search for diplomatic solutions and to avert the risk of an escalation of the conflict that could have unpredictable and dire consequences".
As reported by the UOJ, the Pope blessed a piece of ice at a climate change conference.
