According to the Patriarch, Europe’s future is possible only if it preserves its spiritual foundations and acknowledges the central role of Christian faith.

On September 30, 2025, on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of his enthronement, Patriarch Daniel of Romania delivered an important address in Bucharest, reports Basilica.ro.

He stated that Europe must be more than a space of progress – it must safeguard its spiritual values. “When we speak of Europe… it is first and foremost Europe of Christian faith,” the Primate emphasized.

Patriarch Daniel noted that European civilization rests upon three pillars: Judeo-Christian revelation, Greek philosophy, and Roman law. Yet, in his words, the most essential element remains the Christian faith, which gives meaning to human life.

Speaking about the construction of the National Cathedral of the Salvation of the Nation, being built on Arsenal Hill in Bucharest, the Patriarch underlined its special significance for the Romanian people. In conclusion, he thanked God, the clergy, and all who support the Church in its mission.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Patriarch Daniel had called for raising children in the Christian tradition.
