In Ireland, former Wexford County Jail to be converted into church
The Protestant pastor stated that the building is very strong and only requires a bit of paint.
In Wexford County (Ireland), the building of the former prison is being renovated and converted into a Protestant church. The planning commission has approved a special permit for the use of the site for this project, writes msn.com.
According to Pastor Troy Baxter of Cornerstone Ministries, the existing building will be preserved and renovated. It will house a chapel with more than 100 seats, fellowship meeting space, classrooms, and a nursery. The church will also utilize the original jail kitchen. Additionally, the current garage area will be repurposed for the Mentoring of Skilled Trades (MOST) program.
"It’s quite the story, we’ll have to deal with a lot of the stuff, I say, get rid of the ugly. We’re going to bring some color in and some entry way and dress it up with a nice presentation. But the building is very strong and it was well maintained so everything worked when we walked in," said Baxter.
He noted that the main work has already begun and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
As reported by the UOJ, a 19th-century church was set on fire in France.
