The Head of the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) stated that if the Kyiv Metropolis is banned, 154 structures of the UOC will be banned along with it.

DESS is ready to immediately file a lawsuit to terminate the activities of the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC, said Viktor Yelensky on the air of "Radio Liberty".

"The law states that we must do this immediately, and the lawsuit is already prepared," Yelensky emphasized.

According to him, the decision to file the lawsuit was made after the UOC refused in writing to comply with the directive to cut ties with Moscow.

Yelensky clarified that the lawsuit will concern not only the Kyiv Metropolis but also 154 religious organizations that "are part of it or associated with it". All these organizations have already been notified of the recognition of the Kyiv Metropolis as affiliated with the ROC.

At the same time, the official emphasized that it is not about a "parish in the conditional village of Kalynivka", but specifically about the governing center of the UOC and the legal entities associated with it.

Moreover, the head of DESS repeatedly stated that the Kyiv Metropolis is the governing center of the UOC. How this is related to the conclusions of the DESS's "study", which mentions the Church being led from Moscow, Yelensky did not specify.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that cases were opened against Yelensky for inciting interreligious hatred.
