Priest reminds why believers come to prayer standing near Kyiv Lavra

Near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Orthodox Christians have been gathering for prayer almost every day for more than two years.
On August 11, 2025, near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, where believers gather daily for prayer standing, Archpriest Georgiy Boyko emphasized in his speech that the main goal of participating in these prayers is the salvation of one's own soul and the preservation of the monastery, reports the Telegram channel "Fortress Lavra".
"Many ask themselves why they come here? First of all, we must answer this question ourselves. We desire the salvation of our own soul. We wish for the Lord to preserve the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and the brethren who pray here for us sinners," said the priest.
Father Georgiy told a parable about a house that collapsed due to the lack of cement, explaining that cement in spiritual life is the grace of the Holy Spirit, without which the Church cannot exist.
"The Lord said: 'I will build My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.' The foundation and the binding link is the grace of the Holy Spirit, which the Lord has given to both the Church and everyone in it," he reminded.
The clergyman also noted that the Lord left His Most Pure Mother to people, who "leads by the hand, supports in falls, and shows the way".
In conclusion, he wished that the Lord would strengthen all who come to the prayer standing at the Lavra: "Help us, Lord, to pray and grant us Your strengthening grace."
As reported by the UOJ, the worshippers pray for the Beatitude at the prayer standing near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
