The church’s doors, dome, and windows sustained serious damage.

As a result of another Russian strike on the city of Sumy on July 21, 2025, the Presentation of the Lord Church, located in the Kovpakivskyi district, was damaged, according to the press service of the Sumy Eparchy.

Around 10:30 p.m., the Russian military carried out an attack on a densely populated area of the city using two guided aerial bombs (KABs).

The powerful blast wave caused significant damage to the church’s dome – several metal sheets were torn off in multiple places. Doors were damaged, and windows shattered. The building now requires urgent repairs to prevent further destruction.

In addition to the church, five apartment buildings, a shopping center, 18 vehicles, and several non-residential premises were also damaged in the explosions. At least three people were injured, including a child; another 13 sustained other forms of trauma.

“This is not the first time the Presentation of the Lord Church has been damaged during the war. The Orthodox community calls on all concerned to join efforts to save this sanctuary, which suffers together with the city’s residents,” the statement reads.

As previously reported by the UOJ, a Russian airstrike earlier destroyed a UOC church in Bytytsia, Sumy region.
