UGCC parish calls Labubu toy a tool of the devil
The UGCC published a warning to parents about the toy’s “dark story.”
In the Facebook group of the UGCC parish in Terebovlia (St. Nicholas parish), a post appeared warning parents about the popular Labubu toy, calling it a “tool of the devil.” After mockery and criticism appeared online, the post was deleted – but screenshots remained.
The message emphasized that Labubu is not just a toy but an “instrument in the hands of the devil,” warning that “not everything modern is good, not everything popular is safe.”
The post detailed the “dark story of Labubu,” explaining that the toy was designed in the image of an “unpredictable, evil, yet attractive” creature – a “child of dark energy.”
The author pointed out that in traditional beliefs of both East and West there are many characters that are appealing but embody chaos, deception, and dark power.
“Labubu is not just a trinket. It is the archetype of a trickster, which at first glance provokes a smile but carries destruction and anarchy,” the post stressed.
It also warned of the potential danger to children, suggesting the toy might encourage “not childlike tenderness but a wild instinct to dominate,” and that “after playing with Labubu, some children show aggression or excessive excitability.”
The post concluded by urging parents not to forget “what stands behind popular things,” so that “it is not the ‘magical toy’ that controls them, but they themselves can choose what brings good.”
Note: Labubu is a popular collectible toy from the Chinese brand Pop Mart, which became a trend on social media. The toy is a character with large teeth and horns from the series The Monsters.
