"Response to LGBT": BOC calls for procession in defense of the family

The Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church denounced the gay pride parade as aggressive propaganda of sin and urged a response rooted in virtue and fidelity to Christian values.
On June 12, 2025, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church officially announced its support for a prayer procession in defense of traditional family values. The statement was published on the Church’s official Facebook page.
In its message, the Synod once again condemned the so-called gay pride event, describing it as a form of aggressive promotion of sin and a blatant distortion of Christian values. According to the hierarchs, believers should respond to such provocations with dignity, embracing virtue, chastity, and faithful Christian marriage as the God-given path to salvation.
The Bulgarian Orthodox Church is calling on all Orthodox Christians – and anyone who recognizes the importance of traditional marriage and raising children in Christian families – to join the procession.
The “March for the Family” will take place on June 14, 2025, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in front of the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky.
As previously reported by the UOJ, on May 17, 2025, a peaceful march with thousands of participants took place in Sofia in support of the introduction of the subject elective subject "Virtues and Religions" into the curriculum of Bulgarian schools.
