Sumy Eparchy of UOC raises over one million hryvnias for cancer children

The Lenten charity campaign has been successfully completed despite the wartime.
In the Sumy Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the fundraising campaign as part of the Fourteenth Eparchial Charitable Action to assist children with cancer in Sumy region, titled "To the Bright Day – Bright Deeds," has been completed, reports the eparchy's website.
By the blessing of Metropolitan Eulogy of Sumy and Akhtyrka, the campaign traditionally took place throughout the Great Lent of 2025. Each church in the eparchy had a donation box with the campaign's logo, where every believer could contribute their share of mercy.
In addition to fundraising, charitable fairs, prayers for the health of children, and various creative initiatives by the clergy, parishioners and Sunday school students were also held as part of the campaign.
On the third day of the Holy Pascha, all donation boxes were collected, and the funds were counted by the eparchy's accounting department. The total amount of donations collected during the 2025 campaign exceeded 1 million hryvnias, and the counting of funds is still ongoing.
"This blessed result is a manifestation of true Christian mercy and selflessness during trials. Despite the war, fear, and pain, the residents of Sumy region have not forgotten those who need our support the most – children with cancer," the eparchy's message notes.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a fair to assist children with cancer had started in the Sumy Eparchy of the UOC.
