Pope Francis passes away in the Lord

Pope Francis (born Jorge Mario Bergoglio) has led the Roman Catholic Church since 2013, becoming the first Jesuit to hold this position in history.
On April 21, 2025, Pope Francis passed away in the Vatican. According to the Vatican press office, the Pontiff died at the age of 88 in his residence – the Casa Santa Marta.
In recent months, Pope Francis had been experiencing serious health issues. He had recently undergone a lengthy course of treatment at a Roman clinic, where he had been hospitalized with a diagnosis of bilateral pneumonia. Despite doctors' efforts, the Pontiff's condition remained grave.
Pope Francis (secular name – Jorge Mario Bergoglio) became the first Pope from Latin America and the first Jesuit to ascend the throne of St. Peter.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Pope Francis had called on Christians to establish a unified date for the celebration of Easter.
