It is the oldest known inscription on stone containing an ancient text written in Paleo-Hebrew script.

The oldest known stone tablet engraved with the Ten Commandments has been sold at an auction in the United States for over $5 million. According to Al Jazeera, the tablet was sold at a Sotheby’s auction in New York.

The 52-kilogram marble slab was purchased on Wednesday, December 18, by an anonymous buyer who plans to donate it to an Israeli institution.

The final price exceeded the initial estimate of $1–2 million after more than 10 minutes of “intense bidding” during the global competition.

As previously reported, the Jewish community of Lviv has asked the United States to help restore the synagogue in Brody.
