It is noted that the ancient church withstood World War II to be destroyed in the "civilized 21st century".

On July 8, 2024, in the settlement of Novoekonomichne in the Pokrovsk district of the Donetsk region, the UOC Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary suffered significant damage due to Russian shelling.

Photos posted on the Vicariate's Telegram channel show extensive damage to the church both inside and outside, with broken windows, destroyed walls, ceiling, and altar area.

"The ancient church, which survived the Bolshevik persecutions, withstood World War II, only to be destroyed in the civilized 21st century," the message says.

As reported by the UOJ, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry expressed condolences regarding the missile attack on Kyiv.
