Human rights defenders spoke with beaten clerics and believers of the UOC, examined medical documents, and studied video recordings of the attack.

On December 13, 2023, at the invitation of Metropolitan Theodosiy, employees of the UN Monitoring Mission on Human Rights in Ukraine arrived in Cherkasy, according to the website of the Cherkasy Eparchy.

According to the press service, the reason for the visit "was the bloody capture by militants in camouflage of a nunnery in Cherkasy in favor of the OCU on November 20 this year, the video footage of which went around the world."

Human rights defenders carefully listened to the victims, examined medical documents on the injuries received. Some of them were visited in hospitals after maxillofacial surgeries.

"Many of the victims and injured believers gave testimony on condition of anonymity, as inaction of law enforcement agencies in case of violation of the rights of believers today does not allow them to feel safe, especially after threats to their lives and health from the attackers on the convent," the text says.

The mission staff were provided with a full base of evidence of the attack, as well as video recordings, documents on the initiation of criminal cases, evidence of attempts by official structures to mitigate the criminal consequences against the perpetrators of this crime, and more.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that UN human rights defenders had a meeting with Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy.
