According to the Historical Museum, the gods and spirits of ancient Kyivan princes will visit Starokyivska Hill to entertain all who come.

The National Museum of History, a structural division of Ukraine’s Ministry of Culture, has invited Ukrainians to “celebrate the mysterious folk holiday of Ivan Kupala on Starokyivska Hill.” The invitation was posted on the museum’s official Facebook page.

The announcement states: “It was here that Kyivan Rus was born, and here stood the most ancient sanctuaries of our ancestors. Once upon a time, on Starokyivska Hill, the Slavs offered sacrifices to their many gods.”

According to the museum’s staff, “today the gods and spirits of the ancient Kyivan princes will once again visit this land — this time to entertain, offer treats, and acquaint everyone with the early history of Rus.”

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Ministry of Culture plans to introduce folk crafts into the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra following the expulsion of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
