The SBU reported the detention of two neo-Nazis who tried to set fire to a synagogue in Kherson on the birthday of Adolf Hitler.

On May 9, 2020, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained two people who were suspected of trying to set fire to the Kherson synagogue on April 20, reports “Left Bank”.

The SBU claims that the detainees are supporters of Nazi ideology, and by setting fire to the synagogue they wanted to "celebrate" the birthday of Adolf Hitler.

Attackers were identified by surveillance camera records and detained on May 9 during another attempted provocation on the 75th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism.

We recall that on the night of April 20 in Kherson they threw a bottle with a combustible substance at the local synagogue. No fire occurred because the liquid did not catch fire. Information about the attempted arson was received by the police at about three in the morning. The applicant said that he had seen an unknown man set fire to a bottle, threw it on the threshold of the synagogue in Theater Street, and fled.

As reported, earlier the police detained a vandal who desecrated the UOC Cathedral in Ternopil.
