A Church in Volyn – age-mate of Independence of Ukraine – celebrated its jubilee (PHOTO)
A Divine Liturgy on the occasion of consecration anniversary of the Holy Dormition church in Radomyshl village, Lutsk district deanery, was led by Volyn diocese’s vicar bishop of Kamen-Kashirsky Nafanail. It is reported by the site of the UOC Volyn diocese.
Greeting the parishioners, Vladyka Nafanail sent them a blessing from Metropolitan of Volyn and Lutsk Nifont, congratulated them on the church jubilee and the Independence Day: the church is contemporary to the Ukrainian Independence. After the Liturgy a moleben service was held, during which a host of priests and parishioners had a conciliar prayer for the peace and rest on our home land – Ukraine.
For 25 years a shrine has existed in the village, attended by those who are eager to hear a word of the Lord and pray to Him. The church in Radomyshl is very nice, but the most important point – worships are attended by the number of people who preserve their ancestors’ faith.
The church history in Radomyshl village is special, because legends about the “cossack” church are passed down from one generation to another, yet there are no documentary proofs to its existence. There is some information that the church existed as long ago as 1773, but it was already shabby at that time and burnt down during WWI together with the chapel on the village cemetery. Another church, restored in the 20-s of the last century, burnt down during WWII. The present church was built and sanctified on 24 August 1991.
