Joan Rowling is excluded from Forbes billionaire list for charity

British writer Joan Rowling was excluded from the list of Forbes multi-millionaires due to the fact she’s donated “too much money” for charity. She’s given out to those in need around 160 million dollars, which accounts 16% of her fortune. The writer became the first person to have been excluded from the Forbes list for charity. It is reported by Vesti.

Rowling, the author of a famous series of books about magician boy Harry Potter, is the first billionaire in the Forbes history to have made her fortune solely thanks to her writing skills. Moreover, Rowling began her literary career as a single mother living on social allowance.

The writer has a perfect idea what it is like to be poor; therefore she chooses to be open-handed. She deals with a number of charitable organizations – for instance, with Gingerbread foundation for parents’ help.

Joan Rowling has her own fund, called “Lumos” (after a spell from the book about Harry Potter, which is used to lighten an item). The fund is engaged exceptionally in helping disadvantaged children of Eastern Europe.

Some books were written specially in order to raise money for charitable purposes. For instance, fees gained from publishing three books “Potteriana” (“Beedle Bard Fairy Tales”, “Magic Creatures and Where To Find Them”, and “Quidditch through ages”) were transferred to various funds. A total sum of donations made up to 30 million dollars.
