His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphriy: the world lives by the rules which run counter to laws of the Lord
Christians do not need to align with the life mode of the rest of the world. The world will exist as long as there are people in it who observe the laws of God. It was said by His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine Onuphriy during his Sunday sermon on August 7, as reported by the UOC Awareness-Raising Department.
His Beatitude Onuphriy, citing a Gospel story about two blind men, explained what God expects from His disciples. “The blind were following the Savior and called “Have mercy on us, the son of David!” God pretended not to pay attention to them. Even though He could heal them at once, He did not do it for two reasons: firstly, He did not want other people to witness this miracle, secondly, He wanted to check how much faith those blind men had,” remarked the Primate.
According to the Archpastor, in order to be able to receive benefits from God like these blind men, we should have action-proven faith. “Faith will be petitionary when man obeys all his life to Whom he believes, his Creator and God. He will do not do as he wants but fulfill what God told him to,” emphasized the Metropolitan.
“We want to offend or take revenge on somebody but we should refrain. Somebody offended us but we should make ourselves forgive them. We have no desire to pray – we have no time, mood, strength – yet we should stand up to pray. We are reluctant to go to church on Sunday or holiday – but we must go there. Everything what God bequeathed a human must be observed by him,” noted His Beatitude.
Consequently, a person develops their experience-based faith. “The faith which is underpinned by fulfilling Commandments is strong faith and there is no shaking such faith,” underlined the Primate.
One should work hard in order to get such an excellent faith in any conditions. “Today we have to adhere with a particular effort to Christian laws rather than secular ones. We shouldn’t look to this world ruled by different laws, remarked Met. Onuphriy. – It has become a pattern to make something worthy of 5 cents but advertize it as if it cost 5 thousand dollars. This is wrong. A good deed, according to Gospel, is to be kept in secret so that only God might know about it.”
His Beatitude Onuphriy mentioned that “the world continues its existence while there people who make good non-repayable deeds. May God help each of us to work at our life to obey it to the will of God and cultivate faith. It’ll invoke God’s blessing upon the land and salvation in Heaven in our Lord Jesus Christ.”
