Holy Synod of UOC canonizes two saints
The Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at the meeting of July 20 decided to nominate Rev. John the Hagiorite (Vishensky) for sainthood. The bishops also blessed to glorify another saint of Kiev, Metropolitan Ioannicius (Rudnev) in the Face Sacred, reports by the Information and Education Department of the UOC.
The Holy Synod also approved icon-painting images and projects of troparia and kondaks of the saints – Rev. John of the Mountain (Vishensky), a well-known Athonite ascetic and zealous champion of the Orthodox faith, and the prelate, Metropolitan Ioannicius (Rudnev), whose incorrupt relics were found in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
The Holy Synod of the UOC decided to commemorate St. John the Hagiorite on July16 / July 29 (old / new style) and St. Ioannicius (Rudnev), Metropolitan of Kiev and Galicia – on June 7/20 (old / new style), the day of his demise .
